This division maintains relationships with Morgan Stanley's various industry and government regulators, and also serves as the conduit of financial information to the outside investment community.
Finance plays a critical role as advisor to Morgan Stanley's various businesses and its senior management team.
The Division is seeking a Finance Project Manager (PM) / Business Analyst (BA) to be based in the firm's regional headquarters in Hong Kong.
This role will provide the individual an opportunity to work within the Asia Finance Organization to deliver business expansion projects and other top risk and regulatory initiatives across multiple markets and asset classes.
This opportunity will provide the individual with a chance to work with senior members of the firm in order to drive key business initiatives and collaborate across multiple stakeholders and locations.
This role will also support the New Product Approval (NPA) Department which governs the new product review and approval process across all firm business lines globally.
The team ensures infrastructure and control groups validate that risk is adequately managed and confirm the capability of supporting the proposed new products.
It reports on new product activity to senior management, risk and governance committees, as well as interfaces with external regulators as required.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
The Finance Project Manager role focuses on providing project management to support business initiatives, supporting various finance groups such as legal entity control, regulatory reporting, product and cost control, tax, treasury and other finance governance teams.
Work closely with the Asia Pacific Chief Financial Officer and senior finance managers to oversee and track the portfolio of finance deliverables for business and firm initiatives.
Interaction with business, technology silos, operations and risk management groups to coordinate front to back testing.
Assist with managing the pipeline of work for finance organization and facilitating prioritization in line with current supply / demand
Support standardization and consistency in projects, financial risk management processes and procedures, and ensure adherence to company tools and applications
Provide New Product Approval (NPA) program coverage for all business lines in Asia Pacific and Japan to both business unit?
s clients and firm infrastructure groups and to support them in the application of the NPA process
Deliver global governance reports for the management of the NPA Program, targeting various stakeholders, including business risk management, firm infrastructure groups and regulators
Perform quality assurance of new product proposals to monitor and ensure compliance with existing policies and procedures
Perform administration support as required for system entitlements
Communicate key program requirements and ongoing developments / program changes to stakeholders
Required Skills and Experience
University degree with at least 8+ years of relevant work experience in a major management consulting firm or within the financial services industry
Knowledge of the financial services industry; preferably in an investment bank with finance organization knowledge
Working knowledge of financial products, acquired in a risk or business support function
Strong Project Management skills and demonstrated ability to work under pressure
Strong analytic and problem solving / process improvement skills, ability to learn quickly, manage multiple demands, changing priorities and solve poorly defined problems with attention to details
Excellent verbal and written skills with an ability to create high quality written products that are comprehensive, accurate and tailored to the audience
Outstanding ability to work effectively across all levels of the organization with excellent influencing and negotiation skills
Strong organizational skills with an ability to manage multiple demands and changing priorities
Overall experience in hands-on project management, specifically in business-related projects essential and supporting finance organization?s processes
Solid understanding of the Project Lifecycle (PLC) and System Development Lifecycle (SDLC) components.
MS-Project, MS Excel, and general MS-Office skills essential
Strong knowledge of Asian markets, exchanges, and related financial and regulatory reporting practices in the Asia region
Experience with large scale regulatory initiatives gained from having worked with the capital markets trading industry (derivatives and equities) at a global bank or consultancy
