Global Risk is a thriving and expert risk management function supporting HSBC globally with all aspects of risk management.

The team actively manages a varied and dynamic range of risk types, including security, fraud, information security, contingency, geopolitical, operational, credit, pension, insurance, market and reputation risks.

All parts of the Global Risk team use their skills, insight and integrity to handle established threats and those they see emerging, acting to protect and enable HSBC to deliver sustainable growth.

We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as a Senior Policy and Risk Governance Manager .

Principal Responsibilities

  • Support the Regional Head of Policy and Risk Governance and Asia Pacific (ASP) Wealth & Personal Banking (WPB) Chief Risk Officer to manage financial and non-financial risks across markets and region
  • Coordinate and execute regional projects and initiatives across ASP markets. This is not limited to Retail Credit but may extend across other businesses or functions
  • Ensure credit facilities and exposures are within the risk appetite of local and regional WPB
  • Ensure credits comply with regional / local regulations and provide necessary support to Business as risk stewards, where applicable
  • Develop a positive working relationships with markets, Business, second line of defence and internal audit within WPB
  • Conduct portfolio analysis and provide insights that could strengthen credit control and enhance portfolio risk monitoring
  • Support the Chief Risk Officer in managing all financial and non-financial risks
  • Manage the enterprise risks reporting for WPB ASP
  • Work closely with key stakeholders to ensure processes and strategies are effective and continuously challenged for improvement
  • Manage the review and reporting of thematic risks and issues across ASP
  • Coordinate across businesses, functions and markets to ensure the key risks and actions are escalated and managed in a timely and quality manner
  • Assist with the Regional oversight of audits, regulatory requirements, credit agencies reporting & governance processes in relation to Retail Credit.
  • Ensure proper controls and monitoring process are in place to provide early warnings on risks and performance issues

  • Identify potential risk issues (financial & non-financial), and proactively suggest means by which they can be addressed
  • Provide guidance and best practices to markets and other WPB Risk teams to ensure applicable governance are adhered to
  • Act as the primary advocate between Group, Region, & Markets to ensure effective implementation of Risk Management Framework and Enterprise Risk Reporting across ASP
  • Effectively lead, coordinate, and manage at all levels in driving key initiatives, changes, and monthly reporting processes for Retail Credit across ASP
  • Develop a positive working relationships with markets, Business, second line of defence and internal audit within WPB and provide necessary support as risk stewards, where applicable

  • Requirements

  • University graduate with a degree preferably in Risk Management, Business Administration, Business Systems, Accounting, Law, or equivalent professional qualifications
  • Experience in Banking industry, preferably in personal financial services and credit related discipline
  • Experience in a risk governance role, or experience with risk strategy and policy setting
  • Experience in risk management reporting and management committee coordination
  • Understanding Risk and making decisions in highly complex situations where there are potentially major consequences for the business
  • Proactive approach to managing own work activities
  • Strong verbal and written English communication skills
  • Be able to work independently and detail oriented
  • Good interpersonal skill, be able to work as a team. Capability to communicate effectively
  • Demonstrate a high degree of organisation skills
  • Capability to coordinate and manage stakeholders at all level
