Position Description : This position is for an experienced financial controller to undertake all aspects of financial management, including corporate accounting, regulatory and financial reporting, budget, cash flow management and forecast preparation, as well as the implementation and monitoring of internal control policies and procedures.
You will join the PIMCO Asia Pacific Finance team who oversee 6 countries and partners with Newport Beach Finance and 3rd party bookkeepers on all financial and business analysis matters.
As a member of the APAC Finance team, you will also lend your experience to select strategic projects across the region where relevant.
You will report to the APAC Head of Finance.The successful candidate will possess a strong knowledge of accounting principles, IFRS and various local GAAP’s and ideally US GAAP and several regional regulatory reporting requirements.
Prior experience with finance matters in Singapore and / or Hong Kong and / or China an advantage. As a global firm, many projects and tasks require close coordination with different teams and colleagues across the globe.
Therefore, strong teamwork, collaboration and communication skills across stakeholders (both inside and outside of the finance function) are essential.
As the industry and our business continues to evolve and becomes more complex, a solutions-oriented mindset and the ability to adapt and think flexibly is essential.
Responsibilities1. Accounting, Audit & Financial ManagementAssist with the continued development of the finance function with assistance from the Global team.
Maintain an effective accounting system, maintain efficient internal controls and monitoring processes to oversee the full spectrum of the accounting role including : Assist with the month and year end close process,Generate and ensure accuracy and legal conformity of required accounting & regulatory reportsEnsure all financial information is recorded in accordance with GAAP and state regulations and consistent with established Company policy and procedures,Review of General ledger accounts & analysis & investigation where required.
Assist in interpretation of new contracts and interface with Newport Beach Billing team to ensure correct billing,Liaise with the Newport Beach Billing team for revenue accruals and invoice generationEnsure all compliance checklists and reviews are done and recorded appropriately each monthAssistance with the preparation of audited financial statements each year.
Act as liaison with auditors during the financial audit.Identify and assist with the resolution of technical accounting issues.
Provide timely and accurate information to management to evaluate performance and to aid in managerial decision making2. Expense ManagementTo monitor and control company expenses and capital expenditures in accordance with expense authorization policies.
Coordinate the accounts payable process within ReadSoft & Concur with the 3rd Party bookkeeper.Ensure compliance with travel and expense authorization policies.
Review & approval of vendor invoices & employee travel & entertainment claims. Approval of new vendors and assistance with expense coding.
provide variance analysis.Assist with optimizing liquidity according the group's financial policy and initiation of repatriation or funding actions.
Ensure the controls from Head Office Treasury are in place & liaise regular with the team.Facilitate cash transfers between U.
S. and local bank accounts as needed & liaise with Treasury & the bookkeepers.4. Financial Regulatory & Risk ManagementResponsible for the monitoring of compliance with, and the preparation and filing of, any financial regulatory limits and reports.
Update cash flow forecasts and assumptions on a regular basis for regulatory reporting.Ensure all compliance checklists and reviews are done and recorded appropriately each month.
Manage internal and external audits pertaining to any issues raised by external regulators.5. TaxLiaison with the business, international tax head located in Newport Beach, the local bookkeepers and KPMG on all tax matters.
Assist in the coordination of the corporate tax and VAT / GST returns & approval and payment of tax payments.Compile the necessary details to ensure the corporate tax and indirect tax declaration and payments are completed in an accurate and timely manner.
Position Requirements : Strong written & spoken English communication skills essential.5 to 10 years’ of financial services experience, preferably with exposure to asset management, financial services or fund accounting.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related disciplines, preferred.A professional finance certification such as CPA or equivalent beneficial.
Expert knowledge of public accounting principles and practices.Proficient with Microsoft applications, particularly Excel.
Experience with SAP a benefit.Strong interpersonal skills; can work with all levels and stakeholders both internally and externally.
Proactive self- starter who is able to work independently as well as within the team.Detail and results oriented, and able to set priorities in a fast moving dynamic environment.
