Director within the Intermediary clients Asia team focused on business development and relationship management amongst global and regional private banks.
The candidate shall assist in the promotion of Vontobel Asset Management’s (VAM) activities to financial institutions with a particular focus on global banks.
The sales process to financial institutions is varied and demanding there is no single approach that is applied consistently.
Consequently, to be successful in this area, it is essential that the candidate understands how to sell in a potentially complex environment as well as having a deep understanding of investment management and the structuring of investment solutions.
The candidate must also be able to network and influence in a sensitive but effective way throughout VAM. The position is viewed as an important hire to build VAM’s presence amongst global and regional private banks in Asia with a particular focus on Hong Kong.
Work with the Head of Intermediary Sales Asia to develop and execute a business development and relationship management strategy for global and regional private banks in Hong Kong.
Build and maintain a detailed knowledge of key business and strategic issues facing financial institutions in Hong Kong and across Asia
Acquisition and ongoing servicing of new and existing clients
Marketing the full range of VAM’s products and services to the assigned client base with the assistance of investment platform professionals where appropriate
Development and implementation of a business plan to identify prospects and raise assets across VAM’s product capabilities.
Ensure that all compliance and legal requirements are met and business is conducted in line with practice, taking appropriate action where necessary
Self-confident, robust, decisive, trustworthy and with excellent judgement on client matters
Entrepreneurial and a self-starter, but able to operate in a team environment
Innovative thinker able to bring forward and promote new ideas and initiatives, among peers and investors
Strong and confident presenter also in front of large audiences
Good understanding of investment products across all asset classes
Service mentality : client centric, diligent and meeting fast turnaround times
Excellent time management between aftersales servicing, prospect / client activity and internal stakeholder engagement is a key success factor for this role
Collegiate team player, experienced and comfortable in an international environment
Outstanding communication skills in English (both written and verbal), Cantonese (verbal) and Mandarin (verbal).
At least 5 years or more experience with proven track record in sales or client servicing within the financial industry
