m PLATFORM is a Data & Tech division of GroupM, the world’s largest media investment company and are a part of WPP. In fact, we are responsible for one in every three ads you see globally.

m PLATFORM is a business redesign that was initiated worldwide in GroupM at the end of 2016 and continues to roll out across markets and capabilities.

m PLATFORM consists of both a product suite and a services suite. The product suite offers a range of applications covering consumer insights & media planning, data analytics and a comprehensive reporting solution.

The services suite covers the entire range of search, social, mobile, digital ad operations and programmatic. In Hong Kong, most services are performed by GroupM agencies as part of their services offering to clients, whereas the product development is by the hub working with m Platform regional

The Head of m PLATFORM is to lead structural, attitudinal and business change within the organization with a view to maintaining and extending the position of GroupM as the most digitally literate agency group in Hong Kong.

As Head of m PLATFORM you will act as the lead to ensure GroupM agencies access and deploy the m PLATFORM product suite, namely m insights, m report and m analytics to their clients properly and efficiently.

In this role, your primary clients’ will be the GroupM agencies.

Reporting of the role

This role reports to the CEO, GroupM Hong Kong and the Regional Head of m Platform.

  • In this role, your goals will be :

    In three months :

  • Bed down and understand the Tech and Digital setup (services, data and product capability) of the business in GroupM Hong Kong and how this interacts with our regional and global organization.
  • Grow and strengthen your team and build relationship with the agencies Digital Leads, empowering them to be thought leaders for their clients and for the industry.
  • In six months :

  • Build out a road-map for what is required to grow usage of m Platform products and craft the next stage of Tech and Digital business moving forward
  • Smoothly communicate between internal and external stakeholders with business, technical and product requirements and interpreted it into scalable implementing projects
  • Assist the agencies in their new business pitches and client proposals, including meeting and explaining our offering to existing and prospective clients
  • Act as technical advisor to GroupM trading / supply team to drive media value for clients from digital publishers working with Head of Trading, to create scalable data partnerships to fuel our audience planning & insights tool, and reinforce GroupM global standards related to Brand Safety, Viewability and Ad Fraud, with both advertisers and publishers.
  • Worked out product training programs and provided effective trainings to business stakeholders
  • In 12 months :

  • Responsible for adapting the global product to local market requirements
  • Improve internal structure and service level of GroupM Digital team across specialist and agencies
  • Build synergies and collaboration between the m PLATFORM centralized services and agencies team
  • Become an active member of key digital associations in HK, and work to further GroupM’s digital ambition in the market
  • Responsibilities of the role :

  • You need to assist the GroupM and agency leadership to access and deploy the m PLATFORM product suite, to their clients properly and efficiently building up their digital literacy;
  • this would include authorising and delivering training modules related to the data, tech and digital landscape as well as GroupM’s role in leading the BAV conversation in the market.

  • Helping to solve local implementation issues working with regional teams, and work out solutions.
  • Discover and integrate new technology partnerships to drive operational efficiency through the GroupM technology team
  • Provide Xaxis / PBU with necessary support and market intelligence to grow our programmatic practice and to drive programmatic acceleration of clients
  • Build out a road-map for what is required to grow usage of m Platform products and craft the next stage of Tech and Digital business moving forward
  • Improve internal structure and service level of GroupM Digital team across specialist and agencies
  • Be a public spokesperson on industry issues and become the voice of GroupM with a strong, high profile and positive reputation in the market;
  • this include becoming a member of key industry bodies to evaluate digital measurements and formulate advertising standards

  • Assist the agencies in their new business pitches and client proposals, including meeting and explaining our offering to existing and prospective clients
  • Act as technical advisor to GroupM trading / supply team to drive media value for clients from digital publishers working with Head of Trading, to create scalable data partnerships to fuel our audience planning & insights tool, and reinforce GroupM global standards related to Brand Safety, Viewability and Ad Fraud, with both advertisers and publishers.
  • Be an active member of HKEXCO team, providing advice and help in implementation if needed in market management decision
  • What you will need :

  • A driven and tenacious individual, with leadership qualities
  • The ability to manage multiple stakeholders, prioritise and lead proactively
  • Abreast with the latest technology that will affect digital advertising
  • Strong conceptual understanding of the larger landscape of marketing technology and its subset of advertising technology
  • Collaborative and astute able to build trust and respect within the GroupM network
  • A willingness to develop connections within the larger business community (clients, media owners, publishers, and technology partners)
  • Detailed awareness of the digital industry, client business issues, industry trends, consumer trends, market status and competition
  • Experience in building and managing effective teams
  • Excellent communication skills, including public speaking, selling and presentation skills.
  • Good conceptual understanding of the larger landscape of marketing technology and its subset of advertising technology
  • Hands-on experience on any of the following digital disciplines is a plus; including search, social, e-commerce, and change management.
