The Chief Distribution Officer (CDO), Asia will lead the overall direction of sales and distribution strategy, responsible for maximizing value in the agency channel, group channel, bancassurance, telemarketing and digital channels.
One of the most critical priorities is to accelerate the digitization across channels, with a particular focus on the agency channel.
This role is the business owner of the digital tools developed to support distributors and enable channels.

Premium Agency - a strong agency continues to be an integral part of Manulife operations. The CDO will work with the Chief Agency Officer to prioritize digitization of the channel, and deliver above-market growth with quality by focusing on active agent headcount, improving productivity, increasing retention of new agents, achieving high persistency results and digital tool adoption.
Optimize Bancassurance - value-driven bank partnerships help Manulife to achieve business scale. The CDO will lead the efforts to optimize existing partnerships, improve business profitability and growth (both organic and inorganic) through targeted distribution strategy including digital and new partnerships.
Remarkable Digital Customer Experience - digital innovation is crucial to the future of Manulife. The CDO will work with the Head of Multi-Channel Distribution to deliver the best-in-class customer experience and develop new business models in the digital channel.
The CDO is also responsible for establishing and implementing operational risk control standards across all distribution channels, establishing playbooks and governance for all sales compensations (for staff including distribution management / Insurance Specialists and non-staff distributors such as agents and brokers), distribution learning and development and developing a strong distribution leadership team.
Key Responsibilities :
Work with market General Managers and distribution heads to formulate and execute short-term and long-term distribution strategy to support growth, profitability, and operational objectives of Manulife
Ensure distribution standards of performance, behaviors, and attitudes commensurate with the company vision and values statements.
The position is also expected to ensure a high level of compliance with local and Manulife requirements.
Establish robust and sustainable channel management functions for continuous sales and NBV growth; manage and supervise business activities pertaining to all sales and distribution aspects
Develop sales processes and platforms that deliver superior customer experience
Effectively drive new business volume and value through holistic management of campaigns, incentives and customer needs frameworks
Responsible for the effective leadership, motivation and development of distribution management team and operations staff
Enhance the Company's image with government authorities, host communities, policy-owners, customers and general public
Is a key member of the management team to help set the strategic direction, working closely with functional teams to deliver customer-first strategy
Drive increased penetration of business through existing business partners and responsible for successful acquisition of new partners
15+ years insurance distribution experience preferred
Result-driven with ability to establish credibility among varied audiences
Ability to conceptualize, design and implement end-to-end strategies
Strong people management and influencing skills
Strong leadership, interpersonal and motivational skills
Understanding of business financials, with the ability to deliver results within financial parameters
Execution oriented with track record of success
Ability to work cross functionally with other Manulife departments (e.g. Technology, Marketing, Wealth Management, Legal, Compliance, etc.

Deep understanding of insurance distribution in Asia
Ability to travel extensively, whenever current travel restrictions ease
