Major Duties :
To (a) provide practical and teaching support in food science laboratories; (b) participate in functions and projects of the section, including but not limited to : (i) planning of the resources required for daily practical laboratory;
ii) provision of logistics support to practical classes; (iii) procurement, receipt, storage and inventory control of consumables for the section;
iv) preparation of culture media and related apparatus for practical classes; (c) organise the sensory laboratory and experimental kitchen for practical classes and guests;
d) provide support in the installation, commissioning, operation and maintenance of equipment / apparatus / software; (e) conduct and arrange microbiological testing and equipment calibration, maintain proper documentation and housekeeping to ensure compliance with the requirements of ISO 22000 Food Safety Management System (FSMS) and / or HACCP system;
and (f) assist in ad-hoc projects as assigned.
a) A recognised diploma or higher certificate in Food Science / Analytical Science / Biotechnology / Chemical Technology, or equivalent, and preferably with : (i) Basic Food Hygiene Certificate for Hygiene Supervisors or Basic Food Hygiene Certificate for Hygiene Managers;
and (ii) ISO 22000 Internal Auditor qualification; (b) At least 2 years' relevant experience in laboratory tests; (c) Work experience in sensory laboratory and hands-on knowledge and experience in ISO 22000 Food Safety Management Systems (FSMS) and / or HACCP system is preferred;
d) Good command of both written and spoken English and Chinese; and (e) Proficiency in basic computer applications.
