Duties

Based in the Department of Infectious Diseases and Public Health, the appointee is expected to pursue microbiology research in the context of public health and the environment.

Research topics, including but not limited to detection, transmission, mitigation and / or control of infectious diseases, are of interests.

We welcome research that involves field observation, laboratory experimentation and / or theoretical modeling. Candidates with a background in life sciences or engineering that fits the research theme are encouraged to apply.

The successful candidate is expected to develop a vigorous, externally-funded research programme and provide excellent teaching at all levels.

The candidate should be able to complement existing expertise both within and outside the two academic units.

Requirements

A PhD in Public Health and Environmental Microbiology, with experience in studying antimicrobial resistance, microbial genomics and metagenomics in an environmental context.

Candidates should have demonstrable evidence of research success (including the ability to obtain research funding), strong interpersonal skills to work collaboratively as a member of an academic team, and an ability to deliver courses in English.

Salary and Conditions of Service

Initial appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract.
