Associate Director of Human Resources

Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, the Associate Director of Human Resources will assist in leading the development, review and implementation of a wide range of HR policies and programs in some of the major core HR business areas including talent acquisition, compensation and benefit management, grading and salary structures, performance and reward management, learning and development, staff engagement and employee relations, compliance with employment legislations and regulatory requirements as well as organization effectiveness in terms of talent management and succession planning.

The role leads a team of HR professional staff to provide a full range of HR services to client departments and offices and works collaboratively with different stakeholders in driving HR excellence.

The candidate will be responsible for designing, formulating and implementing HR strategies, policies and systems for the development and continuous improvement of the aforesaid key business areas.

  • It supports the Director and senior management, among other things, in the co-ordination and implementation of policies and plans for the recruitment and retention of talents;
  • succession planning for key positions; staff learning and engagement programs to foster a collaborative and engaging environment in the University;
  • and driving a high performance culture for continuous improvement in the University community. As part of the senior team of the Human Resources Office, the Associate Director assists to provide internal HR consulting and work as a partner to senior management in support of organization structure review of departments / offices to drive organizational effectiveness.

    The candidate also serves on relevant committees for the setting up of HR policies and regulations as well as recruitment of senior staff.

    This is a challenging role that provides an excellent opportunity for a proven human resources professional with a passion in people management to contribute to the University’s human capital and organization development needs.

    The ideal candidate should have a good bachelor’s degree, preferably a higher degree, with substantial years of work experience in HR at a senior level in sizable organizations.

    Familiarity with the higher education environment is a plus. He / She should be a seasoned professional who is knowledgeable in multiple areas of HR core business and familiar with best practices in people management.

  • The candidate should possess strong project management skills with a proven track record in leading and implementing large projects and programs;
  • demonstrated leadership, forward looking, excellent communication skills and the ability to effectively interact and build collaborative relationship with people at all levels and across different functions and cultures.

    Ability in developing strategic initiatives in human resources management and in introducing change and delivering innovative solutions to HR issues is essential.

    Terms of appointment

    Appointment to the position will be on a two or three-year fixed-term contract, renewable subject to mutual agreement. Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

    Fringe benefits including housing, annual leave, medical and dental benefits will be provided where applicable. A gratuity will be payable upon completion of contract.
