Regional Director of Financial Planning & Analysis, APAC

The Regional Director of Financial Planning & Analysis r role reports to the Regional CFO to lead the financial planning and analysis expertise for the APAC region and ensures alignment with global FP&A initiatives.

As a high profile position interacting with staff and leaders of all levels in the region and the globe, the Regional Director of Financial Planning & Analysis must be forward-thinking with excellent communication and analytical skills to drive processes forward like forecasting, budgeting, pricing, modeling and analysis of financial results as well as partnering to advance business strategies and goals.

Financial Planning & Analysis Roles and Responsibilities

  • Work closely with CFO and region leadership on the overall financial management of the region
  • Take charge to develop and manage the region wide annual budgeting and forecasting processes including timeline, meetings, quality reviews and reporting
  • Evaluate business and reporting processes to drive efficiencies; drive continuous improvement initiatives and share best practices
  • Create and maintain useful reports and analysis tools to support business initiatives and decision making leveraging global tools fully
  • Manage region wide reporting processes including monthly forecast calendars, Executive presentations, business reviews and general reporting communications including analysis of key performance indicators, trends and areas of concern.
  • Perform quality reviews and analyses of financial results and forecasts
  • Liaison with global FP&A on ongoing system and process improvements, training and other financial initiatives dedicating up to 50% of time on advancing global FP&A initiatives
  • Work closely with CFO to critically evaluate scope, risks and potential returns of new projects and initiatives including preparation of ROI analysis, project prioritization and monitoring of capital budgets
  • Assist Regional Finance Director and Controller in the financial management of regional cost centers including accurate financials and forecasts and own financial management of regional investment initiatives.
  • Provide support to finance team in areas of client finance for global or region clients and general pricing approaches
  • Prepare and prioritize ad-hoc analysis requests and projects
  • Leadership and Development Roles and Responsibilities

  • Supervise FP&A staff in region acting as a support team
  • Participate in continuing education classes and provide training to others on systems, tools and financial concepts
  • Lead FP&A team including holding regular FP&A meetings to update the team on performance, projects, finance systems and other areas of finance and be a resource for local finance teams
  • Contribute to performance appraisal process for peers and managers
  • Provide ongoing direction and constructive feedback to FP&A team members to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of support services to market and regional leadership
  • Engage in team building activities. Build team morale by engaging with staff, active listening and maintaining dialog with all team members.
  • Establish FP&A team objectives to align with company goals and evaluate performance against established KPIs
  • Share best practices, good ideas, and mistakes freely to establish trust, transparency and teamwork with the regional and global finance communities.
  • Leverage best practices wherever they may be generated and proactively seek and suggest better ways of getting things done

  • Develop strong professional relationships within the Edelman network
  • Provide analysis or support in areas of real estate, location costs and lease negotiations
  • Act as mediator / liaison between offices and regions to resolve issues related to finance
  • Qualifications

  • Possess advanced knowledge and experience with financial accounting and business intelligence systems as well as advanced skills in financial modeling using Microsoft Excel and presentations using PowerPoint
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or similar and at least 9+ years in FP&A or similar financial roles
  • Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills. Able to articulate complex financial concepts in layman’s terms
  • Client service oriented and fosters positive working relationships with a partnering approach
  • Well organized with strong time management skills and attention to detail; follows through on multiple projects and juggles conflicting priorities in a fast-paced and changing environment;

  • Strong financial modeling and analysis skills; good business acumen and ability to identify data anomalies, trends or deviations and introduce strategies for improvement
  • Experience in collaborating with a team of colleagues; can effectively delegate, coach and leverage resources
  • Leads by example, demonstrates strong work ethic, has initiative and is a self-starter
  • Skilled in conflict resolution and problem solving; a creative thinker
  • Professional services or agency industry experience is preferred
  • Advanced knowledge of Peoplesoft, SSAS, Hyperian, Adaptive Insights and Power BI used by Edelman or similar systems preferred
  • Fluency (written and spoken) in English
  • Open to travel
