Roles and Responsibilities

  • Drive Critical Illness (CI) analytics innovation by adapting new and improved data science approaches for the business
  • Develop in depth understanding of the business and advise the business on the right analytics approach for CI analysis
  • Assess, capture, and organize all relevant CI data available across all BUs and group and define standards for data collection across all BUs
  • Provide data insights and analytics to give a regional view of available data that the countries can leverage
  • Assess external data required and potential sources for existing CI risk, with support from medical expert
  • Work closely with the multidisciplinary team of actuaries, data scientists, medical experts, and researchers
  • Provide support and guidance to the senior actuarial associate on the team
  • Minimum Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree holder, ideally in STEM disciplines (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math); graduate degree in Statistics, Applied Math, Data Science or other related quantitative field is preferred.
  • Min 8 years working in the relevant field
  • Experience with performing Data Analytics : includes communicating with business users and IT staff members to understand the business rules, identifying and locating the relevant data, data acquisition, understanding data fields, data preparation including importing, cleansing and formatting, creating queries based on the business rules and script the queries for re-run, exception follow-up and clarification.
  • Experience using programming languages (e.g. Python, R, SQL) to manipulate data and draw insights from large data sets.
  • Experience with business intelligence tools (e.g. Tableau), Excel, PowerPoint and data science virtual machines on the cloud (Azure, AWS, etc.)
  • Knowledge of a variety of machine learning techniques (clustering, decision tree, random forest, artificial neural networks, etc.
  • and their real-world advantages / drawbacks.

  • Knowledge of advanced statistical techniques and concepts (regression, properties of distributions, statistical tests, and proper usage, etc.
  • and experience with applications.

  • Strong analytical skills, deductive reasoning, problem solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent relationship management, strong team building, and the ability to work across business units and functions to drive positive business outcomes.
  • Practical knowledge of life insurance products
