We are currently seeking a high caliber professional to join our team as Senior Speechwriter (6 months contract) .
Responsible for researching and writing compelling speeches, articles and investor scripts, and preparing well-judged narrative briefings for panel events and other public and closed-door appearances..
Formulate, research and draft compelling speeches, narratives, scripts and articles (principally, but not exclusively) for the CEO, HBAP and CEO, Greater China.
These will be used for external industry conferences, regulatory seminars and investor events, as well as internal town halls and staff messages.
Provide writing support to Asia Pacific leaders, such as regional heads and business heads, as required and as capacity allows.
Collaborate with senior HBAP executives and members of the Communications, Strategy & Planning, and Group Public Affairs teams to proactively identify suitable topics and platforms to support HBAP's strategic themes and business aims.
Ensure speeches, scripts and articles are written to fit the style and needs of the speaker / bylined author, and promote HSBC views.
Maintain awareness and understanding of the subjects and context affecting HSBC and HBAP, impacting performance and investor sentiment, and driving media coverage.
Provide a bridge between HBAP and the Global Speechwriting team to support Group-wide content creation.
Responsible for maintaining the calendar of all speaking events, including briefing the HBAP CEO and senior executives
Proactively provide content specific to HBAP and ensure the entire process is managed, including liaising with external individuals / moderators, where appropriate
Generate well-argued, newsworthy and compelling insights that can be used in external and internal communications
Continually reassess the operational risks associated with the role and inherent in the business, taking account of changing economic or market conditions, legal and regulatory requirements, operating procedures and practices, management restructurings, and the impact of new technology.
Strong background in planning, drafting and writing high quality speeches and articles, with portfolio of recent work available
Experience of building and maintaining strong working relationships, including with senior leaders.
Proven intellectual acuity and agility, with powerful levels of analysis.
Outstanding project management, attention to detail and collaboration skills.
Proven interpersonal skills, including listening, networking, influencing and negotiating.
Strong client management skills to manage the demands of various stakeholders.
Able to work independently and flexibly, to tight timescales and under pressure.
Understanding and experience of financial services would be an advantage.
Working knowledge of Cantonese would also be an advantage.
