The head of FP&A is a key member of the finance leadership team and works closely with the CFO, chief actuary, head of strategy and business development, chief risk officer and other senior leaders including the CEOs and CFOs of each individual market to steer financial results while ensuring the integrity of the numbers and supporting local market finance operations.
In addition, the role is responsible for monitoring internal financial controls, driving process efficiencies as well as sharing and implementing best practices.
The head of FP&A will own the finance monthly operating review (MOR) between IM leadership and markets as well as the monthly, quarterly, and annual deliverables to corporate FP&A for results reporting and forecasting / plan.
Perform monthly consolidation of IM financial results, variance analysis against plan / forecast / prior year for reporting to IM leadership team and Corporate FP&A.
Manage the monthly operating review (MOR) reporting process and meeting with local market leadership to discuss strategic priorities and financial performance.
Drive the quarterly forecast process and annual planning exercise by setting timelines, templates and reviewing plan submissions prior to IM leadership review, highlighting key themes / decisions to be made.
Support annual 5 year strategy planning and bi-annual capital planning processes through data consolidation, review and presentation to IM leadership.
Prepare presentations for IM BFO and President as needed for Executive Leadership Team (ELT), strategy, rating agency, annual plan, town halls and other ad-hoc business reviews.
Have regular check-ins with Corporate teams Capital management, Corporate Tax, Corporate Accounting to ensure proper communication and understanding of significant issues for IM.
Work closely with other corporate functions based in IM Office Cigna Investment Management (CIM), Internal Audit, HR, Operations, Marketing, Strategy to understand their activities and how these impact IM financials or processes.
Drive automation to realise efficiencies in financial closing and reconciliations process.
Be an advocate for robust internal controls over financial reporting, review SOX letters of representation for exceptions, track significant issues and escalate to Corporate Accounting.
Act as mentor to country finance leaders as needed controllers or first time CFOs. Support the development of IM Office finance staff to become future finance leaders within the organisation.
Sponsor the annual Emerging Leaders program by setting project KPIs, mentoring, and giving feedback.
Ad-hoc projects requested by BFO performing special reviews or temporary support of specific markets.

Ability to take on country finance leadership roles or progress within the IM finance leadership team to lead finance within a region or multiple regions.
At least 10 years of experience in financial reporting / accounting operations, with a minimum of 5 years of financial leadership experience.
A qualified CPA, MBA, Actuary or equivalent finance professional preferred.
Solid understanding of US GAAP and IFRS, preferably from an insurance company.
International travel expected at least 10% covering all of Cigna’s international markets.
Strong communication, facilitation, presentation and leadership skills with a proven ability to lead, influence and motivate others cross country and cross function.
Strong decision making / problem solving skills; can identify issues, recommend and implement solutions.
