Role Overview

The Senior Project Manager (SPM) is accountable to the PPM(Portfolio Project Manager) or equivalent Group Head for successful delivery ofall aspects of their assigned projects.

Also by leading, coaching and mentoringas required to improve team performance and competence.

  • Exposure toexpertise derived from other industries and sectors.
  • Provision ofspecific technical skills that are non-existent or in short supply in-house,and often the transfer of such skills to in-house staff.
  • Changemanagement skills enhanced by the consultant’s position as independent andobjective.
  • Achievecompliance with scope, technical and operational requirements defined for theProject in the EPC Contract;
  • Achieveon-time, on-budget completion of the Project;
  • Enhance (ornot detract from) existing relationships with the local community.
  • Zero harm toall project participants.
  • Control ofthe environmental impacts, including sediment control.
  • Compliancewith regulatory requirements, including permits
  • Ensure thatthe highest standards of health, safety & environmental management areimplemented;
  • Excellentknowledge and leadership attributes associated with Safety
  • Knowledge ofSafety interaction
  • Ability toconduct Safety investigations, inspections and audits
  • Integralmember of the team, within APAC Buildings and Infrastructure, However, workswith other sections and regions as required.
  • Workscollaboratively with other team members to deliver goals and targets of theteam, section and region.
  • Understandsthe market and industry
  • Contributesto business planning for section and area and participates in strategicdecision making
  • Tracksindustry developments including codes of practice and guidelines, and emergingtechnologies
  • Usesindustry knowledge in planning and decision making
  • About You

  • Bachelor’s Degree ideally in Engineering with Chartered or equivalentpreferred
  • A formal Project Management qualification orequivalent.
  • 20 years' experience as Project Director / Sen Project Manager / Construction Manager (Previousexperience working for a Consultant on an Owners Engineer project will be adistinct advantage.)
  • Theindividual must have personally executed most of the project managementcompetencies by managing several complex projects.
  • These need to have involveda knowledge of engineering, technical development, design, procurement, development,construction and installation / commissioningmanagement and commercial contracting.

  • A Must haveexperienced with Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) technology.
  • Strongmanagerial and leadership skills.
  • Broadtechnical knowledge and hands on approach
  • An advanced understanding of EPCM project phases and management
  • An understandingof and ability to follow Company & Client policies and procedures
  • An understandingHSE regulations and construction standards
  • An advanced understandingcommercial terms involved on EPCM projects
  • An abilityto develop appropriate corporate strategies
  • An abilityto analyze, edit and present management reports and provide analysis onbase-line excursions from norm
  • Ability toreview / develop and communicate appropriate project strategies
  • Ability to utilizeCompany support resources
  • Ability toassess personnel’ performance and identify potential
  • Ability toimplement cost control measures
  • Ability todelegate tasks appropriate to the skills of nominated staff
  • Ability toform & foster collaborative relationships within the business andexternally
  • Ability towork under pressure and perform steadily during peak work load
  • Strong organizationalskills and attention to detail
  • Ability toimpart skills and train others
  • Ability to organizeand lead a diverse team and establish priorities
  • High levelcommunication, presentation and organizational skills.
  • Understandingof material and human resources and their costs required for a project
  • Thoroughunderstanding of and ability to follow Company & Client policies andprocedures
  • Must haveexcellent communication and organizational skills with the ability to developrelationships and maintain effective networks and be results-focused temperedwith a team-centered approach.
  • Must be astrong conflict manager with a firm and assertive approach but take theanalytical approach with a can do problem solving ability.
  • Will requirestrong leadership, influencing and interface management skills and be capableof working with communities with conflicting focuses.

  • Computerliterate particularly in Microsoft Excel, Work & Power Point. Knowledge inMicrosoft Project will be an added advantage
