  • Resporting to Merchandising Manager, you will follow up all OME, ODM and OPI projects (Howsewares Products), coordinated the different stages of the product developemmet (prototypes, toolings, sampling and ptoduct presonal check and so on)
  • Discuss design with the Designer and propose any necessary changers that, whilst improving the manufacturability do not detract from the product design
  • Discuss the design 3D drawings and potential hazards with the supplier and ensure that the final drawings from which tooling is made are optimised for manufacturing
  • This role will be the link between the factory, BD team and Merchandising team for the product, and to provide mechanical technical support to charge supervisor
  • This role is expected to make a valuable contribution in cose negotiations, maintain the highest levels of quality standards, and to shorten development lead-time
  • The Engineer will help to keep Designers abreast of factory manufacturing techniques so that designing to best cost can be employed
  • The key responsibilities of the role include but are not limit to :
  • Take an active role in Project meetings as required to explain the rationale and the solution provided behind the designs created

    Proactively provide excellent technical and customer service to both internal and external clients. The same mentality and approach will be shared with other team members

    Inspire and challange other team members to become the best they can be

    You are required to travel to China when necessary

  • Collaborate with the designers to create items that can be manufactured cost effectively and to factory processes
  • Support clients in deisgn development to allow optimised manufacturing and tool production
  • Discuss all potential tooling projects with suppliers to ascertain optimised product for ease of final product manufacturing
  • Manage production of prototypes and required modifications - keep all prototypes filed in safe conditions for future reference
  • Prepare, update and ensure correct filing and version control of all 3D drawings
  • Provide technical construction specifications for the Quality Manual
  • Obtain, interrogate and compare tooling quotes from factories to ensure the best cost / quality option taken after consideration of final product unit price
  • Manage the factory during tool development and production so that tool is on time, right first time and of the requried quality
  • Check and sign off all product components produced from tooling
  • Provide up to date suplier and competitor information based on observations in factories
  • Offer suggestions to improve Engineering department practices and processes
  • Build inter department relationships and ensure clear and concise communication with all colleagues to drive maximum efficiecny across the business
  • Foster a culture of openness and sharing across the business
  • Form 5 or above
  • Minimum 3-4 years of working experience within a Development Engineering environment
  • Hardwording and willing to work under seasonal pressure
  • Creative, self-motivated, open minded, confident and with good coordination and communication skill, willing to provide own point of view
  • Can-Do attitude. An ability to think out of the box and provide solutions to problems
  • Understanding how tooling costs are built up is essential
  • A working knowledge of CAD and other programmes such as Solidworks
  • Able to work alone with factories and make on the spot decisions in relations to tooling development
  • Creative, enthusiastic, able to use initiative, self-motivated, highly committed
  • Experience in Kitchenware / Tableware items and the materials used a big advantage but not essential
  • Knowledge of applicable standards and requirements across different markets
  • A good team player able to work with merchandisers / production team, and fulfill needs of internal and external customers
  • Able to present and discuss concepts and products to different management levels
  • Fluent in both spoken and written English & Chinese
  • Frequent travel to PRC
  • Understanding of European / American deisgn taste an advantage
