This leadership role provides supporting significantly to diverse and complex functional areas related to financial accounting.
Provides strategic consultation to senior leaders throughout the organization.
Responsible for directly and through subordinates, managing accounting activities for one or more groups within a LOB.
Duties may include : directing completion of complex accounting tasks pertaining to accounts, statements, systems and records;
Setting standards for and monitoring the data provided for and / or preparation and review of financial statements and other documentation;
Creating and implementing controls to ensure accuracy of data; maintaining advanced knowledge of current accounting practices and regulatory requirements;
Enforcing adherence to internal and external accounting principles and policies;
Developing methodologies and implementing changes in internal accounting systems;
Planning, designing and directing the production of financial and regulatory reports;
Managing response and resolution to audit inquiries.
Provides technical interpretation on various matters and is a key change agent in building / adopting best practices within the functional area.
Leads implementation of complex projects / initiatives impacting one or more lines of business.
Understands and ensures compliance and risk management requirements for supported area are met and works with other stakeholders to implement key risk initiatives.
May interface with external agencies, regulatory bodies and / or industry forums. Manages a team of consultants or cross-
functional / virtual teams in accomplishing goals.
Market Skills and Certifications
University degree (or equivalent) and professionally qualified accountant including experience of GAAP and Financial Control Reporting within the financial services sector
Progressive track record of experience, including staff management, and achievement with ideally experience of running a geographically diverse team
Demonstrable change management skills, particularly those involving process re-engineering and systems change
Strong technical skills including a good current working knowledge of financial accounting and product in the context of (ideally both) APAC and / or US financial services
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to give presentations and briefings to senior management
Creative and strategic thinking skills, including the ability to analyze business transactions and identify key Finance risks / mitigating controls, combined with a pragmatic approach to problem solving and the ability to work under pressure and maintain high energy levels
Must be able to work independently whilst providing leadership and positive collaboration within a fast paced, team environment
