Business Unit Overview

BlackRock’s ETFs and Index Investments (EII) team manages more than $4 trillion in global passive equity assets across Global Developed Markets, Emerging Markets, Commodities and REITs.

This includes BlackRock’s iShares product line, the leading provider of ETFs in the world, with over $2 trillion in assets under management.

    Our clients include corporate pension plans, public pension plans, central banks, sovereign wealth funds and other institutional investors.

    Role Aim / Purpose :

    The APAC EII Products and Markets Team works to deliver, manage and monitor iShares investment vehicles, relevant to our clients.

    The team is responsible for helping to drive the commercialization, thought leadership and product innovation for iShares in APAC.

    Professionals within the EII Product Consulting and Investment Strategy team work to deliver actionable market insights across asset classes to implement using iShares ETFs.

    Working closely with distribution, product strategy, global markets, product range management and marketing, the team helps clients navigate the iShares range, provide them with bespoke product analysis and engage in general ETF education in the APAC region.

    Key Responsibilities :

    Lead the investment content process and formulate effective production strategy aligned with the objectives of the sales campaign themes and investment strategy by synthesizing investment views into clear, compelling reports and client collateral for internal and scaled distribution, with a focus on Australia.

    Develop investment commentary to support views and insights (e.g. client commentary, bylined articles, trade ideas, sales talking points, etc.

    on macro and breaking news topics.

    Produce content for product launches, sustainable investing, thematic / ESG campaigns and on an array of diverse and fast-changing market-related topics, collaborate with the BPAS and Fixed Income teams on portfolio construction and fixed income marketing initiatives, in particular on our APAC-domiciled ETFs.

    Work closely with the BlackRock Investment Institute (BII) and various distribution teams to commercialize investment insights for ETF and index investors.

    Collaborate with multiple EII stakeholders such as capital markets, sales, product teams and marketing to create impactful content and ensure aligned messaging with the relevant target client segments in APAC.

    Drive distribution efforts for content with iShares marketing, including engaging with distribution platforms such as iShares websites, webinars, podcasts, social media and more traditional research papers.

    The position is based in Hong Kong.

    Strong analytical capabilities, the ability to work independently or collaboratively, depending on the circumstances, being comfortable with tight deadlines and multi-tasking are important attributes of the position.

    This role provides an opportunity to be a key player in a strategic and dynamic environment with exposure to a wide variety of new product ideas and business processes, leveraging on BlackRock’s local and global resources.

    Experience, Skills & Knowledge Required :

    Bachelor’s degree or above

    Native English Speaker (with additional languages a plus)

    6-8 years of experience including 4-6 years in a directly relevant capacity (e.g. investment writing, project management within financial services).

    Research, journalism, analyst, marketing or other financial based writing background preferred

    Excellent analytical and written communication skills

    Keen interest in ESG and sustainable investing.

    Superior ability to synthesise information and convey in a clear, concise, engaging way

    Proactive idea generation driven and self-motivated

    Creative, global thinker with high intellectual curiosity; particularly for financial markets

    Strong understanding of BlackRock’s business and clients, solid commercial sensibilities

    Experience writing about markets and investment views

    Humble attitude to writing : agile with templates and various content formats

    Experience with readership analytics, with ability to react to this data

    Collaborative team player with a demonstrated ability to build strong working relationships at all levels of an organization

    Experience with leading projects which require difficult and sometimes conflicting stakeholder management, in a vague corporate environment
