Mobile Information Service
To provide information of public services and assistance to newly arrived ethnic minorities (EMs) who come to Hong Kong for family reunion and permanent settlement, especially those from South Asian countries, including India, Nepal and Pakistan, etc.
upon their arrivals at the Hong Kong International Airport.
a) Distribute information kits to service users. (b) Conduct orientation briefings to newly arrived ethnic minorities. (c) Collect data by way of questionnaires and follow-up services.
d) Prepare required statistics and reports. (e) Provide translation and interpretation assistance to newly arrived ethnic minorities on simple enquiries.
f) Provide support and practical assistance in the immigration and customs process. (g) Facilitate communication and access to EM support services through promotion of the support service centers' programmes and activities and referral to centres as appropriate.
h) Actively engage with the community organizations and ethnic minority group in promoting racial harmony, mutual support and assistance to newly arrived ethnic minorities.
a) Completed secondary school level or equivalent. (b) Relevant work experience in cross-cultural setting, customer service, public relations or social service.
c) Proven knowledge of the needs and concerns of ethnic minorities in Hong Kong. (d) Proven work experience with the Nepali, Pakistani and / or Indian communities in HK is preferrable.
e) Working knowledge of the support service centres for ethnic minorities in HK. (f) Permanent resident or valid work visa holder.
g) Excellent spoken and written English. (h) Able to read, write, speak and translate in at least one of the following dialects-Nepali, Urdu, Hindi.
i) Ability to communicate in Chinese is a distinct advantage. (j) Able to work in uniform at the HK International Airport on rotation shifts including statutory holidays and weekends.
k) Sensitive and open to a variety of cultures. (l) Willingness to learn and be of service to others.
