IFRS 17 Technical & Financial Workstream sets out the technical interpretations, ensures compliance with the IASB Standard and Group accounting policies, performs technical & financial analysis and drive appropriate actions to meet Group’s financial & strategic objectives.

The key responsibilities of the role are mainly to support the local auditor engagement, perform technical & financial analysis under IFRS 17 reporting basis, drive strategic and financial initiatives and support actuarial model enhancement work due to change in technical position.

Job Descriptions :

  • Technical Interpretation : Support local auditor engagement and other lobbying activity (e.g. HKIISG) by performing technical analysis;
  • Drive strategic and financial initiatives and to consider commercials and investor story; Provide technical support on IFRS 17 accounting requirement to different stakeholders (e.

    g. transition work and solution implementation).

  • Financial Impact Assessment : Provide guidance to junior staff to perform various deep-dive analysis and technical assessment;
  • Produce sensitivities results to understand financial impacts and facilitate technical discussion with senior management.

    Actuarial Model Development : Plan and coordinate model enhancement work due to any change in technical position; Provide guidance to junior staff to complete the assigned duties.

    Process Transformation : Assist in process changes and implementation to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in order to fulfill the objectives of the IFRS 17 Project

    Governance and Controls : Assist in the maintenance of robust actuarial governance and compliance framework

    Job Requirements :

  • Fellow of a recognised actuarial institute
  • University graduate with minimum 7 years of relevant experience, candidates with less working experience will be considered as Assistant Manager
  • Solid experience in life insurance industry, preferably with actuarial valuation or modelling experience
  • Strong technical, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong awareness in the business and commercial implications
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, in particular conveying the technical or complex ideas for senior stakeholders
  • Prophet Modelling experience or other actuarial software is essential
  • A team player with good interpersonal skills
  • Good command of both spoken and written English and Chinese
