Job Description
We are currently recruiting for an Analyst for the Private Equity Asia group with a focus on fund commitments, and opportunistically on secondary investments.
Located in our Hong Kong office, the Analyst plays a key role in investing and managing commitments to leading private equity funds and transactions in the region, and will have significant exposure to the leaders of the private equity industry.
Role Specific Accountabilities
Perform due diligence on private equity fund managers including assessing the quality of investment teams, investment strategies, alignment and track record
Build and manage complex dynamic financial models to analyze fund and secondary opportunities
Conduct technical research by leveraging internal and external resources including key information services and databases
Actively participate in the due diligence process, including building financial models, leading due diligence meetings, contributing discrete pieces of analysis and insight, and proactively conducting research to address diligence issues
Contribute to the development and presentation of investment recommendations based on the team’s due diligence and analysis
Monitor ongoing performance and pipeline of funds and secondary investments
Assist with internal projects such as market reviews, portfolio construction, and strategy reviews
Represent CPP Investments externally by building and leveraging relationships with general partners, limited partners and other industry participants to assist in marketing CPP Investments and to help source co-investment opportunities and investment opportunities in other groups
Proactively monitor ongoing financial performance of portfolios for closed transactions and reporting any meaningful developments and insights
Participate in and contribute to the training and development of colleagues and recruitment
Qualifications
1-2.5 years of relevant experience. Exposure to private equity is not required but would be a plus, ideally from the buyside or adjacent industries
Developed research and analytical skills as well as strong interpersonal skills, solid, demonstrated communication and presentation skills
Strong writing capabilities to articulate and communicate complex concepts and theses in a clear, concise manner
Demonstrated capability and mindset of working closely with team members and delivering quality work under tight schedule
Increased capability of working effectively with 3rd parties to drive deal execution
Language capability : Strong command and fluency in English (both verbal and written) is a must, fluency in Mandarin (both verbal and written) will be highly preferred
Consistent demonstration of our guiding principles of integrity, partnership, and high performance and be willing to travel extensively
Strong financial modeling / knowledge and valuation skills will be an asset
