The Customer and International Business Development Division (C&l) is responsible for providing quality wagering experience to local and overseas customers of The Hong Kong Jockey Club.
It operates 88 Race Meetings a year, 37 Simulcasts days, a thrice-weekly Mark 6 Draw, 7X24 Digital Channels, 7X24 Football Betting Services on over 11,000 different leagues per year.
The ultimate aim is to provide an impressive total customer experience leading to sustainable turnover growth in a responsible manner.
The broadcasting Operations team is responsible for live coverage of horse racing in Hong Kong, production of related promotional video, formatting betting and racing-related information into TV graphic displays and documentaries for on-air at TV stations as well as display on the giant display screens and closed-circuit TV network at the racecourses.
The Chinese Telecast Section in Broadcasting Operations is responsible for producing and packaging racing television programs, both for local broadcasting by terrestrial free-to-air television, pay cable television, overseas simulcasting operations of which betting on Hong Kong's horse racing is operated.
You report to Audio and Visual Operations Manager (Technical Support) and the scope of work covers both Race day and non-Race day duties.
You are the main technical director and provide support to Audio & Visual (AV) Operations, Telecast Services and Racing Support Services.
You are also responsible for providing advices to the Club facilities / strategic projects focusing on video, display and system design, ensuring the technical configurations of the live TV production on racedays are stringently checked and the live raceday TV programmes are smooth.

Race Day
Monitor front-line technical support to ensure smooth operations of Club’s TV Production systems
Support the performing of signal control and monitoring to ensure Club’s programme signals are complied with broadcasting standard both locally and overseas
Provide support and assist the monitoring of all technical issues of AV / Telecast systems and work together with IT / Facility Management AV Operations / Telecast Services / TV Broadcasters and External Vendors to perform system fall-back & recovery when required
Ensure the efficiency and quality of video and audio signal transmissions both in overseas race simulcasting and local television broadcasting through close supervision and coordination with satellite station, overseas simulcast partners and television broadcasters
Substitute any technical position when a staff is absent from work
Non Race Day
Ensure front-line technical support in pre-raceday set-up of video camera system between HV and ST video patrol room, support in Mark Six live Draw, 7 x 12 Channel JC video playout system for OCBBs, Technical support for Telecast / Infotainment TV program productions / playout, and set-up of special equipment to enhance live TV program production;
support the Club’s functions or activities (Corporate and C&I functions) and the necessary equipment and resources
Assure the technical performance of Racecourse IDS (RCIDS) and the large video screens
Work with IT to maintain uninterrupted RCIDS network reliability
Execute agreed plans and designs for the enhancement of RCIDS / Telecast systems to sustain continuous improvement on capacity and capability to align with the business needs
Act as the internal advisor on assessing AV consultant report and product evaluation; prepare technical requirements and tender documents for AV systems
Assist the AV Operations Manager (TS) in the co-ordination of Club’s projects (SCTC, RCIDS, Live Horse Tracking system) in areas of live TV production / display system design and implementation
Provide technical set-up support to the Club’s functions or activities (event marketing and in-house functions) by ascertaining the programme is well packaged and the necessary equipment and operational resources are well organised.
Assist in maintaining an effective work team by training staff in operational skills, technical domain knowledge and acquiring hands-on experience at various operational positions through job rotation for team members.
This facilitates coverage for absenteeism of on-site operation staff.
Research on and conduct implementation of new A&V technologies and ensure all systems / equipment are constantly in good working order with the aim of improving operations and broadcasting services.
The equipment is capable to support the new activities / initiatives.
Undertake other duties as assigned by AV Operations Manager (TS).
You should have :
A bachelor degree or higher diploma in Electronic / TV Multi-media Engineering. A post-graduate degree in management and relevant discipline a plus
At least 7 years of relevant working experience
Familiarity with TV production system design and post-production workflow. And proficient knowledge in the latest technologies in broadcasting industry
Proficiency in written and spoken Chinese and English
Sharp reflexes, a strong sense of initiative and a high sense of responsibility in handling on-site environment, including incident management in ad hoc on-site situations.
Ability to cope with pressure is necessary
Strong project and cost management ability
Technical writing / Drawing skills such as AutoCAD, RFP and evaluation criteria, equipment and demonstration and test report
Contract preparation and execution experience

The level of appointment will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
