Position Summary :
The Global Content and Media Distribution Asia team are seeking a talented Media Sales Lead who will work under the Media Distribution Team Leader for the distribution and monetization of the NBA's international programming portfolio across all media platforms in Asia Pacific.
The position requires an ambitious and versatile media executive who will play a key role in augmenting the NBA's robust distribution strategy to drive new business and renewal negotiations.
The Global Content and Media Distribution division manages relationships with the NBA's broadcast and digital / streaming media partners.
The group leads the distribution of NBA, WNBA, G-League, Basketball Africa League and USA Basketball live games and ancillary programming in more than 215 countries and territories.
The content is circulated in more than 40 different languages, reaching millions of households worldwide.
Major Responsibility :
The successful candidate will lead the NBA's sales and distribution activities in key South East Asia and East Asia territories (excluding South Asia and Greater China).
Proactively identify and convert high-value distribution partnerships across the NBA's entire content, media product and programming portfolio.
Plan and execute renewals through thoughtful long-range account planning, skilled market strategies and alignment with NBA Asia's overall growth plans.
They will have demonstrated experience in media rights sales, including live and non-live rights packaging and delivery of content across all mediums.
Responsible for delivering sales across each of the NBA's leagues, including both managing media renewals and sourcing new business opportunities.
A strategic and long-term mindset in creating value for the business. This includes both direct revenue opportunities, and longer-term indirect strategic initiatives (e.
g. developing products and programs).
Help to lead the management of internal and external stakeholders throughout the season, ensuring that the operational teams and NBA business units are providing superior account management.
Alongside Finance and Strategy teams, utilize both financial and non-financial. analysis to create effective and successful business cases and market strategies.
Maintain and leverage market intelligence on media trends and sports rights globally.
Be prepared to articulate local strategies in a global context to US and international stakeholders.
Required Skills / Knowledge :
6+ years of work experience in broadcast, streaming, distribution and / or related field Proven track record in media rights sales and monetizing content through licensing negotiations and formation of partnerships.
Prior employment at a major studio, broadcaster or sports federation ideal.
A diligent attitude towards getting hard things done. This role will require someone who can prepare effectively and then execute autonomously.
Willingness to develop knowledge of the NBA's entire content portfolio to deliver optimum solutions. This will include, but not be limited, to broadcast (TV), digital (OTT) and NBA League Pass (DTC / SVOD).
The candidate will be leading multiple conversations and work streams simultaneously, so having the ability to prioritize and manage time to deliver against goals will be critical to success.
Comfortable working in and leading cross-functional working groups (Finance, Strategy, Legal, Marketing, Content, New York HQ) with a commercial outcome in mind.
An established network in the international and Asia Pacific media, entertainment, and technology communities. Particularly in South-East Asia, and East Asia Markets.
