Technology and Operations Controls Monitoring and Remediation Lead

Role Summary :

The Asia Technology and Operations Controls Monitoring and Remediation Lead drives the regional controls monitoring and remediation program.

This involves defining, measuring and monitoring KRIs as well as guiding the teams working remediation activities. It is a senior role within the Asia Information Technology and Operations Controls Governance (AITOCG) function.

The function sits within Manulife’s line 1b of defense where we align with leadership to set the risk culture, support IT and Ops in identifying and mitigating risks at scale, and provide a common view and narrative of key risks to enable business discussions.

We help business units to ensure

Key Result Areas :

  • Define and prioritize key risk indicators, establish pragmatic measurement mechanisms;
  • Actively participate and influence orientation of global and regional working groups. Ensure Asia’s needs are integrated in the global programs;
  • Closely collaborate with key processes owners to identify key risks and measure control effectiveness;
  • Participate in the documentation of key risks and controls;
  • Champion and drive effective usage of Manulife’s GRC tool;
  • Ensure quality of deliverables and effectiveness of program;
  • Advise teams engaged in remediation work;
  • Experiences and Qualifications :

  • University graduate with minimum 10 years solid experience in operations and controls;
  • Hands on experience in operations, preferably in Insurance, is a plus;
  • Experience managing complex regional controls related program.
  • Knowledge and Skills :

  • Ability to take high level guidance and translate into concrete plans and activities;
  • Strong stakeholder management skills; able to effectively articulate risks and need for action through strong verbal and written communication;
  • Can distil complex issues into simple reports, solutions, and designs;
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with ability to influence senior leaders and inspire and train more junior team members;
  • Deep understanding of technology and operations and how risks can impact the business;
  • Self-driven, able to meet objectives with a minimal amount of managerial oversight;
  • Proficient in English, both verbal and written, proficiency in other Asian language is a plus.
