This position isresponsible for rolling out the IFRS 17 / 9 project (Project Halley),conduct accounting research, and provide guidance to business unitsto ensure proper accounting practice and consistent applicationwithin AIAGroup
Support the review and editing of drafttechnical papers, application guidance and chapters from theaccounting and valuation manual related to the new standards (firstdrafts prepared by externaladvisors)
Support in preparing internal papers forpresentations to senior internal / external stakeholders on the newstandards, interpretation and proposed technical solutions.
Thisincludes Board, Project Steering committee, Design Authority andother groups / committees.
Support the interactions andcommunications across all project workstreams, pilot BU and otherBUs. This will include thefollowing : Help address questions and issuesraisedCo-
ordinate activities in relation tothe gathering, review and presentation of material on the newstandards.Support in making training and othermaterials, and if needed support in delivering the presentation orworkshopsSupport the reporting workstream whichfocusses on (amongst others) defining a new CoA and relatedprocessesParticipate in meetings with theactuarial workstream on Financial Impact Assessments and otherquantitative tests and support in assessing theimplications of the tests for the technicaldeliverables.
Work together with other team members toprovide an accounting advice on (amongst others) followingtopics : IFRS 17 : product classification,combinations, level of aggregation, unbundling of components,contract boundaries, fulfillment cash flows,etc.
IFRS 9 : SPPI test, temporarydisclosures, business model test,etc.Outcome and application of the IASB TRGclarificationsFinancial statement new disclosures andpresentation
Degree holder with professionalqualification in AICPA, HKICPA orequivalent.
Minimum 10 years of relevant workexperience gained within a multinational environment with regionalexposure.
Strong accounting policy technicalskills.
Strong knowledge of IFRS 9 and17.
Experience with insurance and financialservices industries stronglypreferred.
Good team player and excellentcommunication skills.
Ability to work well under tightdeadlines and changingenvironment.
Fluency in both written and spokenEnglish.
