International Control Governance and Programs Leader

  • Identify, design, and implement regional programs and controls for local jurisdictional requirements in conjunction with the International Control Programs and Issues Management Leader and LOB (Line of Business) Control teams.
  • Provide input into the development of enterprise-wide and region-specific risk programs and policies in coordination with Control Executive Risk program leaders and IRM (Independent Risk Management).
  • Lead the implementation of regional regulatory change management in coordination with the International Control Programs and Issues Management team and LOB Control teams.
  • Design and implement controls to address outstanding issues within the region, including issues identified by Wells Fargo Audit Services and Regulators.
  • Ensure an adequate design of the regulatory control framework across the region and escalate areas of concern of deficiency, including possible solutions.
  • Accountable for the successful validation, audit, and regulatory inspection of the International Control implementation of risk management program requirements in alignment with Corporate Risk and Regulatory requirements.
  • Leads engagement of stakeholders across Wholesale, PVSI (Payments, Virtual Solutions, Innovation) and WIM (Wealth Investment Management) as well as other supporting organizations in the execution of the International Control transformation program.
  • Manage relationships and foster a team orientation with corporate, business heads, legal, audit and multiple US and non-US regulators.
  • Promote and maintain a risk culture that encourages an informed, measured, disciplined and balanced approach to understanding and managing business process risk and controls
  • Issues Management

  • Establish a regional issues management program, in coordination with the International Control Programs and Issues Management Leader, including issue intake, root cause analysis, corrective action and related plan development, management through the target completion date and validation, in coordination with International Control Programs and Issues Management, Wholesale Group Issues Management and LOB Issues Management teams.
  • Governance

  • Establish a regional governance program, in coordination with the International Control Governance Leader, including committees, escalations, enterprise risk programs (risk identification), and strategic planning.
  • Analytics and Reporting and Administration

  • Design and implement front-line risk and control reporting across the region, in coordination with the International Control Analytics, Reporting and Administration Leader, ensuring consistent standards and aggregation of reports at the legal entity, country and regional levels.
  • Developing risk data and analytics across the region, in coordination with the International Control Analytics, Reporting and Administration Leader, ensuring consistent standards and in close coordination with Wells Fargo's Data Management & Insights group and Wholesale Control Analytics and Reporting.
  • Supporting administration and infrastructure coordination on behalf of the Regional Business Control Leader (including expense / budget planning, leadership meeting routines, workforce planning, team member engagement, talent management, communication and training, etc.
  • and in partnership with International Control Analytics, Reporting and Administration.

  • Implementing a fully integrated analytics, reporting and administration infrastructure to support the group and leverage resources for multiple, on-going activities / initiatives.
  • Market Skills and Certifications

    Required Qualifications :

  • 20+ years of experience in compliance, operational risk management (includes audit, legal, credit risk, market risk, or the management of a process or business with accountability for compliance or operational risk), or a combination of both;
  • or 10+ years of IT systems security, business process management or financial services industry experience, of which 5+ years must include direct experience in compliance, operational risk management, or a combination of both 5+ years of management experience

    Desired Qualifications :

  • Proficient knowledge and experience in International Financial Services and regulatory agencies, especially those in the particular region.
  • Extensive experience leading the development and implementation of risk management programs and associated controls, especially operational risk, compliance, financial crimes, or enterprise risk programs, as well as integration across risk programs is critical.
  • Proven experience designing, developing, implementing and maintaining effective risk management programs, especially risk controls, within a large complex financial services company.
  • Preferred experience in operationalizing controls within business operating units.

  • Experience driving forward-looking strategic plans and full lifecycle transformation leadership from idea inception to implementation to adoption into business as usual operations.
  • Ability to identify and transform existing programs that may be ineffective or deficient from a technological, operational and / or human capital perspective.
  • Strong experience and business acumen in the financial services industry, products, and regulatory environment.
  • Previous experience executing regulatory remediation and corrective actions and interacting with regulators.
  • Proven leadership ability to develop dynamic and high performing teams, lead virtual teams, and drive successful execution of change initiatives.
  • Ability to articulate complex concepts in a clear manner.
  • Ability to influence and consult strategically across a large organization and with various levels of leadership / stakeholders.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to process multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Working knowledge of Wholesale Banking.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.
