The Role

Reporting to the Regional Client Strategy Director (APAC), the Client Strategy Manager will be responsible for building up a deep knowledge of the art and auction ecosystem in Mainland China, its collectors, their collections and their activities, developing relevant and practical client engagement strategies, and help drive client engagement in Mainland China with Christie’s specialists and client advisors

Specific duties & responsibilities will include but are not limited to : -

  • Conduct research and develop deep knowledge of art collectors, their collections and their activities, the art and auction industry in Mainland China, and draw insights that are relevant to Christie's client engagement efforts in Mainland China
  • Identify high potential consignors and bidders in Mainland China across Christie’s sale categories, and develop engagement plans with the General Manager of Christie’s China, specialists and client advisors
  • Analyze data in Christie's databases, files, and catalogues, and draw out key recommendations for Christie’s campaigns, consignment and selling efforts among clients in Mainland China
  • Work with specialists and client advisors on client development ideas, debrief them after client meetings and visits, and follow up on opportunities and next steps
  • Support Mainland China specialists and client advisors in client outreach for Christie’s global sales
  • Lead Client Strategy activities (sourcing, pre-sale targeting, and post-sale activities) for Christie’s annual Shanghai sales
  • Organize and conduct client reviews with Mainland China specialists and client advisors, record meeting minutes and drive action points
  • Prepare client transactions analyses and reports for the Regional Client Strategy Director and the General Manager of Christie’s China, highlighting key points and implications, and ensure they are available in a timely manner
  • Ensure relevant client and objects information is properly entered, maintained and updated in Christie’s databases, and adhering to corporate data governance framework and guidelines
  • The Candidate

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree from a recognized University
  • At least four-years successful experience in the art, auction, private banking, luxury or management consulting industries
  • Good knowledge of the the global art and auction industries and collecting trends, and the art ecosystem in Mainland China
  • Fluency in English and Mandarin
  • Very strong written, analytical, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Very strong ability in managing, analysing and visualizing data
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and Power Point
  • Strong professional communication and interpersonal skills with colleagues at all levels of seniority
  • Attention to detail and able to prioritise, manage time effectively and work under pressure to tight deadlines, whilst keeping an eye on longer-term projects
  • Highly organised and proven ability to multitask
  • Flexible team player with demonstrable initiative and creativity
