Position Description

APAC Engagement Manager will lead our AML Enterprise Process Oversight (EPO) team in Asia. The GT&O Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Enterprise Process Oversight (EPO) teams have oversight over the firm’s ability to achieve and sustain regulatory compliance.

The AML EPO teams oversee the execution of significant processes by partnering with the Front Line Units (FLUs), Operations, Technology, Global Financial Crimes Compliance and Legal.

EPOs perform key functions to identify and mitigate risks, achieve operating targets and consistently comply with applicable laws, rules and regulations.

The APAC Engagement Manager brings the full set of AML EPO oversight functions to the business by enabling and influencing applicable FLUs and Operations and driving performance against standards and procedures.

The Engagement Lead understands end-to-end processes and holds process owners accountable for risk identification, control environment and ongoing quality assurance and monitoring to ensure compliance with applicable policies and standards.

The APAC Engagement Lead will support all 12 jurisdictions in APAC and across the global banking and market businesses.

Key Responsibilities

Act as APAC AML EPO Regional Engagement Lead managing a team to oversee :

  • Regulatory change : Partners with Front Line Unit (FLU) leaders to determine and assess process, control, operating and technology impacts of changing regulations, policy and standards;
  • Partners with Compliance, Risk, Audit and Business partners to close gaps in compliance with emerging requirements

  • Issues management oversight : Works with FLU’s and control partners to identify and raise potential issues; provides thematic analysis of issues for business to identify emerging trends, partners with FLU leaders to review results and create action plans;
  • oversees issue remediation efforts if necessary; helps to define prevention programs; and provides active guidance on process

  • Business controls and process compliance : Reviews processes and controls monitoring and independent testing results with FLU to identify potential gaps or trends;
  • recommends remediation actions if necessary

  • Governance : Lead APAC governance routines and support global routines to ensure ongoing execution of appropriate governance and management structures, and ensure global alignment and execution.
  • Key Requirements

  • Excellent working knowledge of AML program with more than 10 years work experience covering risk, compliance or business / operations controls;
  • preference for having AML experience

  • Ability to proactively build strong relationships with key partners and navigate the complexities of getting buy-in, building consensus and resolving conflicts
  • Capacity to analyze complex data from multiple sources and present executive-level reporting.
  • Strong management skills including people management
  • Communicates clearly and effectively at all levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and excellent time management skills.
  • Strong business acumen in global banking or markets products
  • Forward Thinking : Understands and applies context. Asks the next question to engage, inquire and understand the "how" and why behind a topic.
