Job Description

Institutional Client Relations establishes, retains and grows relationships with small and some mid-sized institutional clients.

Consults with clients around investment strategy, account performance, new solutions, and market developments. Develops a broad and deep understanding of the clients needs and challenges and working to meet those needs by leveraging the capabilties of the entire organization.

Partners with sales, portfolio managers, product specialists and / or client relations staff to manage all sales and support activities for assigned accounts.

Has a thorough understanding of the assigned accounts reporting, regulatory, guideline and servicing requirements.

Market Skills and Certifications

  • Previous asset management experience is critical to ensure an understanding of the drivers of investment performance and the life cycle of a client across an asset management firm.
  • 3+ years of experience in one or a combination of the following : portfolio management, sales, marketing, or institutional client service
  • Must be effective at working closely with portfolio staff, product specialists, and other investment professionals.
  • Have a good understanding of preparing and producing reports including presentation, accounting and attribution systems.
  • Have good analytical and writing skills, as over time the individual will be expected to demonstrate a very strong understanding and knowledge of the firm’s products and services.
  • Ability to analyse data and prepare concise and relevant written commentary commentating on market or portfolio specific developments
  • Ability to work with accounting and performance systems will be an advantage (knowledge of Factset and Morningstar would be beneficial).
  • Ability to demonstrate organizational skills.
  • Independent, entrepreneurial spirit and ability to prioritize in a fast paced environment.
  • Outstanding, flexible team player with ability to effectively work through multiple business channels.
  • Ability to multi-task and work under pressure while maintaining a good level of attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated and proactive.
  • Proficient in Outlook, Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with CRM systems is helpful
  • Organised individual who embraces process and systems to daily tasks
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Foreign language skills are desirable but not compulsory
