Role overview

The Research team is now recruiting Research Analysts / Associates for Euromonitor’s new Hong Kong office. The position is a demanding role where the Analyst will be responsible for local ( Taiwan) and regional research output on a number of industries.

In addition the role requires supporting consulting and sales teams and acting as a client contact where necessary.

Research Analysts will be required to work both individually as well as within the team to update, develop and drive new and existing datasets and reports for several industries, including Packaged Food, Beauty and Personal Care, Apparel, Home Care, Travel, etc.

All applicants will need to demonstrate a keen interest in the industries above, and knowledge of local consumer trends and lifestyles.

Analysts must be self-starting, autonomous individuals willing and able to take on full personal responsibility for projects assigned, ensuring their elements are delivered to full internal requirements and client satisfaction.

The position reports to a Research Manager in Hong Kong while working closely for specific projects with Industry and Project Managers in London, Chicago and Singapore.

Key responsibilities

Each Research Analyst has, at any one time, various project-specific responsibilities as well as wider spheres of responsibility within the unit’s global projects.

The role entails directly conducting research and analysis for the finalisation of projects. The successful candidate will be involved in all aspects described below :

  • Secondary research : gathering and scrutinising information from a variety of industry / company sources
  • Validating market data, including integrity of company and brand information
  • Staying up to date on industry trends, with special focus on local industry performance, and share knowledge with other Analysts and Research Manager
  • Primary research (trade interviewing) : direct contact with companies and industry experts to enhance quantitative and qualitative information available in the public domain
  • Developing close contacts across industries to ensure a strong depth and breadth of insight into market performance and trends
  • Report writing and editing
  • Client-facing responsibilities, which may include assisting client use and understanding of published data and reports, responding directly to clients regarding queries
  • Work with our publication schedules and ensure that projects are completed in a timely manner and to our exacting high quality standards
  • Closely cooperate with Euromonitor’s internal teams across other offices to ensure all internal know-how and expertise is accessible as well as to share insights, know-
  • how, sources, etc. gained.

  • Contribute to some of our multimedia content types, such as opinion pieces, videocasts, podcasts, regional briefings, etc.
  • Attending conferences, giving presentations at industry events, participating in PR activities
  • Developing local (Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan) and regional (Asia) expertise on designated industries
  • As required, recruiting, training and commissioning of field-based research team
  • As required, the Research Analyst will provide support on ad-hoc Consulting projects
  • Skills required

  • Minimum one year Market Research track record, proven skills in desk research and trade interviewing
  • Experience of quantitative and qualitative analysis
  • Excellent command of both written and spoken English, additional Asian languages a strong advantage (Cantonese or Mandarin in particular)
  • A degree in business, marketing, economics, statistics or other related field
  • Ability to thrive in the fast-paced and challenging environment of a recently-opened local office, being responsive and flexible
  • Strategic report writing skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • High level of numeracy
  • Ability to interpret, analyse and present statistics in an interesting way
  • Time management and organisational skills
  • Tenacity and attention to detail
  • Ability to work under pressure and to meet tight deadlines
  • Proficient in Excel and PowerPoint
  • Editorial skills an advantage
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team, including cross-office collaboration around the world
