The access team is responsible for strategic planning of value and access to ensure commercial success of Amgen molecules in Japan, Australia and Asia Pacific markets (JAPAC).

These molecules include those in development, beginning in Phase III and extending throughout commercialization across the Amgen portfolio.

This work also includes lifecycle planning and access support for our in-the-market products. Additionally, the team is responsible for JAPAC strategic pricing, including recommendations for regional price bands and launch sequence.

  • As a Regional Director of Value & Access, this role will be expected to :
  • Drive regional priorities, policies, and strategies for Pricing, Contracting, and Access, in compliance with global strategies and policies, which support the value proposition of the assigned portfolio of products, including Amgen’s biosimilars
  • Provide analytical, technical, and strategic support to country teams in their development of local strategies and tactics and customized messages for payers, decision makers, regulators, providers, and budget holder, based on local payer segmentation
  • Guide regional brand teams to develop the access plan(s), including optimal approaches with governmental agencies and payers, and help prepare for new product launches
  • Facilitate the identification and development of customized value added solutions (beyond the medicine solutions) to address customer’s unmet needs to accelerate access.
  • Support affiliate strategies and operational tactics through product and functional capabilities training and best practice sharing
  • Define pricing, contracting, and access assumptions for planning and forecasting
  • Collaborate with Global Pricing & Market Access to determine regional price and contracting guidance, design negotiation strategies, implement price governance, and support price and reimbursement negotiations for assigned products
  • Work collaboratively across functions and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders. These stakeholders include Regional and Country Leads in marketing, medical, health economics, regulatory, operations, advocacy, and government affairs as well Global, Regional, and Local VA&P colleagues.
  • Formulate the TA strategy for the aligned TA in order to cascade and collaborate strategy to affiliates
  • Qualifications :

  • Doctorate degree & 4 years of market access and / or payer experience and / or health economics and outcomes research and / or business development experience
  • Master’s degree & 7 years of market access and / or payer experience and / or health economics and outcomes research and / or business development experience
  • Bachelor’s degree & 10 years of market access and / or payer experience and / or health economics and outcomes research and / or business development experience

    Proven record in achieving access successes in JAPAC markets

  • Significant pricing, contracting, tendering, and negotiations experience in the pharmaceutical industry
  • Experience in more than one Asian market, preferrably small to large cluster experiece
  • Oncology, hematology and / or inflammation experience
  • Direct payer experience and / or experience in product commercialization
  • Key Account Manager experience
  • Ability to conduct situation analysis of external pricing and reimbursement environment and synthesize relevant information to develop strategic plans
  • Ability to formulate price policy recommendations
  • Ability to develop and test value messages and value evidence with payers in order to determine the most compelling way in which to demonstrate and communicate product value to payers
  • Excellent communication skills, including interpersonal skills to foster collaboration and succeed in a highly matrixed environment;
  • strong oral / written presentation skills

  • Demonstrated success as a team leader with strong team management skills
  • Ability to review clinical and health economic literature, including disease state information, clinical trial design and results, and pharmacoeconomic studies, in order to understand implications for value to payers
  • Ability to formulate health policy strategy and implement these strategies to shape external pricing and reimbursement environment
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal communication in English and or other language(s) relevant to the Region
