The Department of Translation sets out to provide an education in bilingual studies which can produce graduates with competence in Chinese and English as well as capacity to think for themselves.
One of its central features is the equal emphasis on translation as a profession and as an academic discipline. Another feature is the importance attached to the socio-
cultural environment of the Chinese and English languages. The appointee will be required to teach courses in one or more of the following areas : Practical Translation, Interpreting, Linguistics, Translation and Culture.

Candidates should normally have a relevant master’s degree / doctoral degree in the relevant discipline. Candidates for the post of Senior Lecturer should have substantial relevant experience (normally not less than eight years), and experience in course development.
For appointment as Lecturer, applicants should have at least four years’ relevant experience.
The conditions of appointment will be competitive. Remuneration will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Appointment will be normally made on a fixed-term contract of up to two years.
